Author Guidelines

The International Journal of Sustainability and Multidisciplinary Research (IJSMR) is a peer-reviewed journal providing a platform for original research articles, review papers, case studies, and conceptual work in sustainability, environmental management, social equity, economic growth, and multidisciplinary research.

1. General Author Guidelines

  • Submission Process: All manuscripts must be submitted through the IJSMR Editorial Office via the online submission portal. Authors must register as an Author and/or reviewers. For submission issues, please contact the Editorial Office at: info@ssdrf.com

  • Required Documents: The following documents must accompany the submission:

    • A cover letter summarizing the study’s main findings and significance.
    • Three manuscript types were accepted: Original Research Articles, Review Papers, and Short Communications.
    • Both Bengali & English-written manuscripts are welcomed.

2. Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should be prepared in Word document format.

  • Title: Should be brief and informative, accurately reflecting the article content with a maximum of 12 words. Each word should start with a capital letter.

  • Author Information: Include author names, affiliations, and email addresses. Academic or job titles. International collaborations are encouraged.

  • Abstract: The abstract should not exceed 250 words and must follow a structured format:

    • Originality: Highlight the research’s uniqueness.
    • Objective: State the research goal.
    • Method: Briefly describe the methods used.
    • Results: Summarize key findings.
    • Implications: Outline practical applications.
  • Keywords: List up to 5 keywords for indexing, along with relevant classifications.

  • Introduction: Briefly outline the study’s background, significance, research gap, and objectives, supported by key literature. Avoid using numbered sections.

  • Methods: Describe analytical tools, data, and sources in detail to ensure reproducibility. Briefly mention established methods with citations.

  • Results and Discussion: Present data in tables or figures (no duplication). Interpret findings in relation to the literature and research hypotheses.

  • Conclusion: Summarize key findings and policy implications if applicable.

  • References: Follow APA 7th edition style. References should include recent literature, ideally within the last 10 years, with at least 80% journal articles. Use reference management software such as Mendeley or Zotero.

3. Review Process

Each submission undergoes a double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers. Decisions are communicated within three months, including an explanation if the manuscript is deemed unsuitable.

Up to 15% Similarity Index is accepted in this journal.

4. Manuscript Revision

Revised manuscripts should be submitted promptly, within three months, through the Online Submission Interface.

6. Online Submission Steps

  1. Register: Register as an Author or Reviewer.
  2. Upload Manuscript: Select the manuscript file and upload it.
  3. Metadata Entry: Complete metadata for all authors.
  4. Supplementary Files: Attach cover letter and copyright form.
  5. Confirm Submission: Review details and confirm.

7. Open Access Policy

IJSMR is open access under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License, supporting free and accessible research dissemination.

8. Formatting and Style Guidelines

  • Document: Use A4 size, single-spaced, 12 pt font, left-aligned.
  • Headings: Follow journal format for main and subheadings.
  • Tables and Figures: Numbered, with titles above and sources below.
  • References: Use alphabetical order in APA format.

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The article must be presented in Microsoft Word format or RTF provided that it does not exceed 2MB.
  • The identification of the article’s author must be removed from the file and the Properties option in Microsoft Word.
  • Authors must adhere to the American Psychological Association (APA) standards.
  • By being responsible for the content of the article submitted to the journal, the author authorizes its publication.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
  • Anything that is not a table will be considered a figure. Examples: drawing, diagram, flowchart, photograph, graph, map, organizational chart, plan, chart, portrait, figure, image, among others. And tables "display exact numerical values, and data are neatly arranged in rows and columns, facilitating their comparison" (APA, 2001, p. 133).

The initiative for the development of a ‘Point-Counterpoint’ may come from the editors, the journal’s editorial board, or through an informal proposal from authors to the editors. On receiving such a proposal, the editors will evaluate the proposal and, if it is approved, will ask for a more formal proposal which describes the relevance, scope and contribution of the debate, including the different positions of the respective authors on the issue or topic and the proposed outcome of the debate.

Privacy Statement

  • The content of the articles published in the International Journal of Sustainability and Multidisciplinary Research (IJSMR) is the sole responsibility of the authors. The total or partial reproduction of article content is permitted, provided that the source is properly cited.
  • Articles containing plagiarism will be rejected, and any author found to have engaged in plagiarism will forfeit their right to publish in this journal.
  • The names and addresses provided in this journal will be used exclusively for the services related to this publication and will not be shared with third parties or used for other purposes.
  • Upon submission, authors transfer the copyright of their articles to IJSMR. If an author wishes to withdraw their submission, they have the right to request that the article not be published. However, this request must be made within two months prior to the publication of the issue in which the article is scheduled to appear.
